Azumi was a quiet but grateful warrior in a small Lion based tribe. He tended to wear a Lion mask over his head, only taking it off in front of his family and loved ones. Azumi cared about life deeply and comforted those who needed it. Something with his tribe’s belief in life and its meaning. Symbols of chimalma, thinking that the deity was similar to lions. One day Azumi dies in battle and he appears on the domain where Azrael resides. Still wanting to live, Azumi manages to escape and wonder around soul worlds. Unknown to him, death stalks

Azumi manages to find Chim, who is more moth based than his tribe envisioned her as and pleads with her. And luckily his words get through since she noticed him and his tribe’s worship and his ways of helping people. His second chance at life, however, is to serve her with his purpose. A guardian of hope. She accepts Azumi after he makes his own deal

“Give me the power and pride of the Lion.”

Chimalma’s gift to Azumi transforms him more into a more durable and animalistic form, but despite this he still has his humanity intact. He doesn’t mind this change, helping any souls or patrolling around. And then Azrael happens. The reaper wanting Azumi’s soul back and not fond of the second chance. But Azumi doesn’t seem to care and challenges them. Despite the cocky nature, Azrael likes his attitude and accepts. If Azumi wins, he gets to keep his second chance. If he doesn’t, Azrael gets his soul. Azumi loses the challenge, but despite this Azrael changes their mind and let’s the Lion guardian go. Seeing how he fought with grace and refuses to give up, Azrael came to respect him a little more. As a sort of reward, Azrael grants him a a way more aggressive form if needed.

Azumi these days tends to still help out Chimalma and other souls. In addition with keeping bellona in line and also training with Azrael
